Helping Children in Need May 29, 2008
I have finally started my job at CPS. I know that I am not able to change the world, but I hope to make the difference in the life of one child. I will need all of your prayers.

As many of you know I attend Our Lady of the Lake University. Last night the Main building caught on fire. The main building has dorms, offices and classrooms. I was on campus when the fire started. One of my friends was texting another friend that was across campus. My friend told me that the main building was on fire and there were 15 fire trucks there. She raised her hand and interrupted the teacher to let her know what was going on. The fire was across the street on the other side of campus. We could all hear the helicopters circling the campus during class. Josh called me and informed me that it was a three alarm fire, but it was soon a four alarm fire.
Amazaingly no one was hurt. There are students that have lost a lot of their belongings. Dr. Pollack (president of the school) addressed all the students after she addressed the media. She made point the “the spiers on the building may have fell, but our blessed mother is still standing (in reference to the statue).
Watching the building go up in flames was awful, but being with other students was amazing. Many of the student gathered in a circle holding hands and started to pray. Arch Bishop Jose Gomez came to speak to all of us last night. We sang the Lord’s Prayer together. I must say that OLLU has a bond like no other school.

Josh and I wanted to get away for a weekend. We went to Alpine, TX for the weekend. We were stopped twice by the same state trooper. We were also given the third degree by the border patrol. I thought that we were never going to get out of that place. I think next time we want to go somewhere we will just go to the coast.
We have had fusion 3 times now. The first time we had 7, then 3, and then 17!! We were shocked to have 17 kids. The parents at the Transitional Living and Learning Center are just so happy to have someone do something for their children. Josh and I are so happy to be able to minister to these children. Keep us in your prayers.
Fusion is back!!!! We had our first service at the transitional living center (ran by S.A.M.M) today. We had seven children and four moms were in and out. i believe that there will be more kids the next time we go. Keep us in your prayers!!
Joshua and I were able to take one last trip to Corpus Christi before life gets crazy again. We walked about three miles on the beach and enjoyed the afternoon.
Sunday is the preview service of Gateway Fellowship, Monday I have to be at school all day, and Tuesday I start my internship with Child Protective Services.
Things could not be better!!!!
I had a great time tonight. It was the first time that I volunteered at the S.A.M.M Shelter. There were about 10 kids and we played the White Elephant gift exchange game with them while their parents were in a class. I really thought that the children would get mad when someone took their gift, but they did not. The children were just so happy to get a gift.
Joshua was playing hide and go seek with the kids. There is really no place to hide, so he pretended not to see the children. When he acted sad they all ran to him yelling “Here I am”. One of the workers leaned over to another worker to ask if we had any kids. Joshua is great with the kids.
I am also happy to announce that I will be the Early Childhood Pastor at Gateway Fellowship in Helotes.
Josh and I have been trying to start a kids ministry called fusion for the past year and a half. We are finally on our way. The some workers at the S.A.M.M shelter like our idea to start a kids ministry. The idea is being passed up to the activities director. Please be praying for us.
